Latinos in Lotusland brings to life the complex and diverse group of people who are the Latino denizens of Los Angeles. We observe young and old, gay and straight, rich and poor, the newly arrived and the well established. There’s a screenwriter pitching an idea and a woman struggling with barrio life, youths trying to avoid gang life and journalists, cement pourers, drunken folklorico dancers, curanderos, aging artists, wrestling saints, aimless druggies, and even a private detective, all of whom perform on a stage set with palm trees, freeways, mountains, and sand.
